Jesse & Sierra’s Full Day Proposal Experience

When Jesse contacted us, he had a very specific challenge.

He was arriving in La Spezia on a cruise ship, had only about 11 hours in the area, and wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Sierra.

He had never visited the Cinque Terre before and wasn’t familiar with the area. He was looking at different excursions and trying to understand how to make the day special while also figuring out how to navigate a destination he had never experienced.

In his own words, attempting to plan everything from afar felt intimidating.

He didn’t simply need a proposal photographer.

He needed someone who could help him create the entire day.

So we took it from there and designed a personalized proposal itinerary around their limited time, combining photography, transportation, beautiful locations, food, swimming, and time to simply enjoy being together.

Starting the day in La Spezia

Jesse and Sierra arrived in La Spezia in the morning, where their private boat was waiting for them.

Because they were arriving by cruise ship, timing was especially important. They had a fixed time to return to the ship, so every part of their full-day proposal itinerary needed to work together.

From La Spezia, we headed towards our first destination: Portovenere.

Rather than treating transportation as something they simply had to deal with, the journey itself became part of their Cinque Terre proposal experience.

They could relax, enjoy the coastline, and start their day without worrying about how to get from one place to another.

The proposal in Portovenere

Portovenere is one of our favorite places in this part of Italy, and we knew it would be a beautiful setting for Jesse’s proposal.

This is where he asked Sierra to marry him.

After she said yes, there was no need to rush straight into the next activity.

We explored Portovenere together and photographed their first memories as an engaged couple.

This is an important part of how we approach a full-day proposal. The day doesn’t revolve around one single photograph or one perfectly timed moment.

The proposal is the beginning of the experience.

Continuing along the coast by boat

From Portovenere, we continued towards the Cinque Terre by boat.

The journey itself became part of the day, giving Jesse and Sierra the chance to experience the Italian Riviera from the water and see the coastline from a completely different perspective.

Along the way, we also planned a relaxing swim stop in the Mediterranean.

It was a chance to slow down, enjoy being on vacation, and simply have fun together before continuing with the rest of their personalized itinerary.

We wanted the day to feel like a true Italian experience — a mix of beautiful places, good food, time on the water, and those slow, unforgettable moments that make you feel like you’re truly living La Dolce Vita.

Lunch and photos in Riomaggiore

Our next stop was Riomaggiore.

We had arranged lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and reserved a table with a beautiful view over the marina.

Rather than simply being a break between activities, lunch became another part of their proposal experience.

They could relax, celebrate their engagement, enjoy a delicious Italian meal, and take in the atmosphere of the village.

After lunch, we explored Riomaggiore together and captured more photographs before getting back on the boat.

By this point, the day had already included a proposal, time in Portovenere, a private boat ride, lunch, and plenty of photographs – and there was still more to come.

Exploring Vernazza

Back on the boat, we continued along the coast before stopping in Vernazza.

We got off the boat and spent some time exploring the village together.

This gave Jesse and Sierra another opportunity to experience the Cinque Terre on foot, away from the boat, while we photographed them naturally as they explored.

Rather than rushing from one location to another, we wanted each stop to feel like part of the day.

That balance between planned logistics and relaxed moments is at the heart of our personalized proposal experiences.

Ending the day in Manarola

After Vernazza, we returned to the boat and continued towards Manarola, where we ended the day.

By then, Jesse and Sierra had experienced the Cinque Terre from both land and sea, celebrated their engagement over lunch, enjoyed a swim in the Mediterranean, explored several villages, and filled an entire day with memories.

Then they had one free hour to enjoy the village before heading back towards their cruise ship.

Their itinerary was created specifically around their limited time in the area, but the idea behind it can be adapted to many different kinds of trips.
